1. Alexandra Joner – “Cinderella” ~Rating: 5/10~
Really underwhelmed by this one. This was the song I was most excited for as Alexandra’s last single “Tap Dance” was fantastic. This is pretty bland bubble gum that sounds more like something one might hear on a Disney Channel Original Movie soundtrack in 2004. I don’t see this doing much for Alexandra’s career or at the contest.
2. Contrazt – “Heaven” ~Rating: 1/10~
Is this the Full House theme song? This song sounds like a theme song from an American sitcom from the late 80s or early 90s. It’s awful and totally stale.
3. Erlend Bratland – “Thunderstruck” ~Rating: 7/10~
This is a very standard Eurovision song. From the soaring vocals to the uplifting message, it’s the type of Eurovision cheesy pop that we hear at the contest every single year. It’s not bad, but not original in any way.
4. Ira Konstantinidis – “We Don’t Worry” ~Rating: 5/10~
Another pretty bland acoustic pop number. Forgettable but not offensive in any way.
5. Jenny Langlo – “Next To You” ~Rating: 6/10~
This one is pretty decent. It’s got an indie electro vibe but it doesn’t go overboard with it. I could see this being fun to watch if the staging ends up being really strong.
6. Karin Park – “Human Beings” ~Rating: 7/10~
A pretty good mid-tempo ballad. Yet again, nothing spectacular, but among this weak group it’s one of the stronger numbers.
7. Marie Klåpbakken – “Ta Meg Tilbake” ~Rating: 6/10~
This number is pretty generic. It’s really not bad by any means, but it could easily get lost among the crowd, even if the crowd is pretty weak overall.
8.Mørland & Debrah Scarlett – “A Monster Like Me” ~Rating: 4/10~
Wow, what a terrible ballad. Totally unspectacular in every way possible. It never really soars or goes anywhere.
9. Raylee – “Louder” ~Rating: 9/10~
This is by far and away the best song among this group. It’s the most current, it’s the catchiest, it’s the most fun. I love this song. It has shade of Selena Gomez back when she was signed to Hollywood Records, but it’s still a proper dance/pop number.
10. Staysman & Lazz – “En Godt Stekt Pizza” ~Rating: 8/10~
This song is kind of a hot mess – it’s part country song, part eurotrash EDM song and part rap song – but it totally works for me. It’s so much fun to listen to and it easily the most memorable and unique song among this generally really generic group of duds. I have no idea what the song is about, but it’s an obvious novelty number, and thank goodness for that.
11. Tor & Bettan – “All Over The World” ~Rating: 1/10~
Okay Norway, nobody needed this 1985 MGP reject. Nothing about this is fresh or current. It sounds like it’s been sitting on a shelf for 20 years.
