Union J Remain The Poor-Man’s One Direction With “Beautiful Life”

X Factor flops Union J have always felt like a second rate One Direction. Their first single Carry You flopped, (even with a major movie tie-in), and their new single Beautiful Life won’t change that fate most likely. The track is a very safe boy band ballad that barely needs a second listen.
The video finds the boys in a shipping yard setting free children who are for some reason locked up in shipping units like they are being human trafficked overseas. Why are these children locked in these units? Why aren’t they upset about it? Why don’t they run away when freed? Why does one of the members look like a lost Jedward twin? So many unanswered questions.

One Response to Union J Remain The Poor-Man’s One Direction With “Beautiful Life”

I hadn’t heard the song before but actually I think it’s better than any of One Directions’ offerings so far – the song is more musical and they’re better singers! But they missed the boat a bit coming after One Direction… If you like X Factor, I’ve done an interview with first week auditionee Luke Britnell! http://20greatsongs.com/2013/09/21/luke-britnell-think-positive/
