Måns Zelmerlöw’s “Beautiful Life” is Good Enough

Sweden’s hottest and classiest popstar Måns Zelmerlöw majorly transitioned musically for this new era. Instead of going for the floor filler dance pop of his first two album eras, he has gone for a MTV Unplugged sound. Broken Parts, his first single off his new album Barcelona Sessions, was pretty amazing. Beautiful Life, the 2nd single off the album, is similar but not quite as good.

As much as I have accepted this era, (Broken Parts was almost so good that I didn’t even care that he went klassy on me), Beautiful Life signals that a full album of these soggy ballads may not play out so well. While he has the pipes, the song itself is just pleasant. Sometimes less is more. In this case, not so much.
