Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” Review

Katy Perry allowed her fans to pick which track was going to be the promo single when you pre-order her upcoming album PRISM, and since Walking On Air was beyond horrific (even based on the 30 second teaser), fans smartly went with Dark Horse as it at least had potential. The snippet teased that there was a trap beat breakdown and a rap verse by Juicy J. Unfortunately, those two elements completely outshine Katy.

The track sports one of the most bland trap beat break down’s out in mainstream pop at the moment. The chorus is pretty weak, and the non-trappy parts sound like her typical bubble gum fodder. Juicy J’s rap verse is the real saving grace of this track. At least as a whole it is better than Snore!

Grade: 5/10
