Miley Cyrus: Wrecking Ball & #Bangerz Album Cover

Tom Cruise’s Cocktail Original Soundtrack Miley Cyrus Bangerz album art has been released, and it’s basically a hot mess. It looks like a Miami Vice promo ad. With an era full of drug references, hipster nonsense, 90s fashions and slight try hard to be edgy behavior, I was hoping the album cover would be look like an expensive Instagram photo. Alas, it doesn’t. I have made better fan-made album covers on Window’s Paint Program in less than 30 seconds. Between this album cover, Katy Perry’s Roar single cover and Gaga’s Applause video, the visuals of pop are a huge mess right now.
Wrecking Ball has also been released as the official second single from the album, and it is a solid ballad similar to her previous top notch ballads The Climb, When I Look At You and Stay, with a huge chorus and solid vocals. It isn’t exactly the single I personally wanted from Bangerz, as the album title alludes to a record full of risky floor fillers, not safe weepy break up ballads. We have yet to hear a single “banger” from this era; We Can’t Stop was an nontraditional banger, but it’s time for Miley to deliver. The good news is Bangerz will have 16 tracks on it, so the likelihood there will be a total crunk as fuk track on there is very high. I still have hope the album will slay, even if Wrecking Ball is only so-so. Also, am I the only one who hears “and all you did was rape me” during the chorus? Disturbing.
Grade: 7/10
