Queen Medina Becomes More Editorial Than Ever With “Junkie”

Denmark makes the best hybrid R&B music. That frosty Scandinavian electro mixed with the heart wrenching tone of R&B always stirs my soul. Medina is one of the best at this. From moody slow burners like 12 Dage, to most of her previous English release Forever, Medina fuses the two genre’s together. It doesn’t exactly hurt that she has a spectacular voice.

Her latest single Junkie featuring Svenstrup & Vendelboe is just as good as pervious work. It’s a bit heavier on the electro this time, and sees Medina playing an addict for love. The video for the track stays with this theme and adds to it by basically turning the concept into a full blown high fashion editorial shoot. There is a lot of extreme beauty going on in this video. Medina herself looks like a heroin chic goddess, complete with an emaciated frame, anemic complexion, frosty blond hair, strung out eyes and fierce but simplistic fashion. The whole thing is a bit pro-ana, but it’s pretty fierce.

Medina has always gone for a slightly editorial fashion look with her releases, (never forget her fabulous For Altid video). I just love seeing this queen snatch weaves with her edgy European market fashion model frame and good looks.
